Travel and Beyond ( i.e. Pixelpat.com ) has just celebrated its first birthday! Initially, I named this site Travel and Beyond because I want to share my travel experiences along with photographs and thoughts about how to travel more, and travel better! Traveling is an adventure in many ways and has the possibility of being stressful, especially due to unforeseen circumstances. With pictures and descriptions I want to make the unfamiliar more real.
People travel for different reasons. Many travel for work or for their education, others for recreation, or to visit friends and family. My main reasons for traveling are to have a change from everyday routine and cold winters. Visiting new places, people, and cultures infuses life with a sense of adventure. While you can read of many interesting places and the adventures of others, the accounts are not the same as firsthand experience. Traveling is a great way to find out for yourself what is happening in the world today. Your own perception of places and events is often quite different from what you have read, because you have unique interests and skills that are different from those of the person whose account you are reading.
When you travel, you discover more about yourself. You quickly find out it you have patience or not, and if you adapt to new situations with ease or with difficulty. Away from home you have a chance to reexamine your life and circumstances without the pressure you sometimes feel around friends and family. With changed surroundings and more time on your hands you can reflect on your life from a different perspective. This can be a liberating experience and one of discovery.
